Nuclear-Derived Sustainable Aviation Fuel

eq.flight develops nuclear-derived sustainable aviation fuel to support low-carbon aviation. By combining reliable nuclear energy with advanced systems, we deliver scalable solutions to reduce emissions and meet future aviation demand.

Aviation needs SAF

The world needs new fuels for the future of flight. Batteries and hydrogen aren’t viable for long-haul travel. SAF is a true drop-in fuel, compatible with existing aircraft and infrastructure, and can be blended into fuel supply chains to reduce emissions without major changes.

Power-to-Liquids SAF offers a scalable route to deep decarbonisation, using low-carbon electricity to produce synthetic fuels with high emissions reduction potential. Unlike feedstock-limited SAF pathways, PtL can expand in line with clean power availability and demand.

Eq.flight has secured £1 million of funding from the UK Department for Transport, recognising the role of advanced SAF technologies in delivering the UK SAF Mandate and accelerating the demonstration of an integrated Power-to-Liquids production system.

How it Works

Air, Water, and Power

Eq.flight uses simple, scalable inputs—air, water and power—to produce sustainable aviation fuel, reducing reliance on constrained biological feedstocks. This creates a repeatable pathway for domestic fuel production. Domestic PtL SAF production reduces reliance on imported fossil fuels, strengthening UK energy security. It also supports stable supply chains and reduces exposure to global fuel price volatility.

The Nuclear Advantage

Nuclear power provides reliable baseload low-carbon electricity, operating continuously with high capacity and supporting stable industrial processes. This ensures predictable output and minimal disruption. Co-locating PtL plants with nuclear generation creates a jobs multiplier, combining long-term operations with new industrial activity. This strengthens local supply chains and supports durable skilled employment.

Project Partners

Eq.flight brings together key partners across the full value chain — from engineering and technology to carbon supply and end-use.
