Equilibrion completes Eq.flight RfP process, strengthening pathway to commercial delivery

Equilibrion has successfully completed a comprehensive Request for Proposal (RfP) process for Eq.flight, taking a major step towards establishing the delivery team, technology configuration and supply chain required to support commercial-scale deployment of nuclear-enabled Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF).
The process was undertaken to optimise Eq.flight for deliverability, cost and scalability, with a clear focus on creating a commercially competitive Power-to-Liquids (PtL) SAF solution capable of deployment from 2032.
The RfP programme covered the principal elements required to progress Eq.flight towards delivery, including engineering and project delivery, feedstock supply, site selection and development, and the core technologies that will form the integrated PtL production system.
Completion of the process has enabled Equilibrion to define an optimised route forward for the project and positions Eq.flight to progress into Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) with an optimised technology configuration, delivery structure, site pathway and supply chain.
Importantly, the competitive process has also demonstrated the potential for significant reductions in project development and delivery costs. The resulting approach is expected to reduce the cost associated with progressing through Pre-FEED by many millions of pounds, alongside material reductions in forecast capital expenditure.
Together, these improvements strengthen the commercial proposition for Eq.flight and provide a clearer pathway towards PtL SAF production at a cost capable of competing as the market scales.
Cost competitiveness is central to the successful deployment of PtL SAF. While the underlying technologies required to produce synthetic aviation fuel are increasingly established, bringing them together into an efficient, highly available and investable production system requires optimisation across the complete value chain.
Equilibrion would like to thank all of the organisations that participated in the RfP process. The quality and depth of the responses reflected a significant commitment from organisations across the supply chain, and we recognise the considerable time, expertise and resource invested in developing and submitting proposals.
We look forward to working closely together through FEED and subsequent phases of Eq.flight with our partners as the project progresses towards delivery.
The outcome represents an important milestone for Eq.flight and for Equilibrion’s wider ambition to establish a scalable route to nuclear-enabled SAF production in the UK and internationally.
Further information on the selected organisations, technology configuration and next phase of the Eq.flight programme will be released in due course.
