Module 1: Introduction to the UK nuclear sector

The growing political backing and investment in the UK nuclear industry is a huge opportunity for the supply chain to develop and expand. Participants will become familiar with the key terminology, and gain insights into current and future technologies, including Small Modular Reactors (SMRs), Advanced Modular Reactors (AMRs) and fusion. We explore the possible applications of nuclear energy to support a transition to net zero.

At the end of the course participants will understand the opportunities for nuclear in the UK market and therefore the potential for supply chain to support. They will be able to talk confidently about the industry, its history, the different technologies available and how they are supported by government policy.

Module 4: Winning work in the nuclear sector

There are several large nuclear projects ongoing in the UK, and behind those large projects is a structured supply chain. This course covers the current opportunities for the supply chain, the timelines for those opportunities and what the longer term pipeline looks like. It then focuses on how to enter that market and win those opportunities, covering an overview of business winning techniques tailored to nuclear customers.

In line with the government Social Value Model most nuclear contracts will require an element of social value. This course introduces the term social value and how to apply the model to a specific opportunity to create a winning proposition.

At the end of the course participants will understand the structure of the current supply chain and know how to position for future contracts, creating winning propositions for market entry. They will understand what the social value model is, how it is applied to nuclear and the importance of including social value elements in bids.
