Role: We are seeking an individual with a degree in a STEM or related subject capable of leading business development, bid writing and stakeholder engagement activities and also supporting the delivery of technical and consulting projects.
Location: Office base in Northampton with working from home and UK and international travel to meet the demands of our projects.

Role

This role will be a combined role of Business Development Manager and Senior Consultant within Equilibrion. We are looking for an exceptional individual to support the development of a pipeline of opportunities associated with Equilibrion’s vision and capability and actively develop the growth of the consulting business. This individual will also play a key part in the project development business, supporting the delivery of our strategy to build commercially viable project propositions that start with nuclear energy. This individual will also be required to deliver exceptional content to support our consultancy delivery and be flexible to respond and adapt to customer needs.

Primary role requirement: Business development including business growth and strategy development, handling enquiries from customers, leading proposition development, producing proposals, monitoring and reporting consulting profit and loss information.

Secondary role requirement: Nuclear and/or energy sector expertise to support consulting service delivery in one or more of engineering, siting, project development, new build, decommissioning, environmental, modelling, physics, safety, regulatory.

Members of Equilibrion will need to work flexibly and adapt to changing needs of the business, which is likely to also involve developing commercial approaches and project management.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of the consulting business in line with company strategy
  • Develop and implement capture strategies for forthcoming opportunities and frameworks
  • Build and maintain a prospect pipeline
  • Identify new markets, and new market areas within existing client organisations
  • Maintain knowledge of client intentions, activities, spending plans, drivers and constraints to assist in the company’s forward planning
  • Understand key influencers within the marketplace to target marketing activities
  • Developing teaming relationships with key collaborators for strategic positioning, ensuring stakeholder relationships are held and managed at the right levels within the business
  • Support the development of the project development business
  • Deliver technical and strategic work to meet customer requirements
  • Ensure the CRM is maintained and up to date

Key attributes will be your drive, and you may possess experience of one or more of the capabilities below:

  • Have a degree or relevant industrial experience in a numerical field
  • Work closely as part of the team to identify and develop a pipeline of projects in the consulting and nuclear project development environments
  • Able to develop, nurture and own personal and professional relationships in industry and government
  • Apply full value-chain thinking to solutions, identifying and developing solutions that have whole system benefits
  • Able to deliver high-quality outputs, identifying and delivering opportunities to go beyond customer expectations
  • Have demonstrable and robust technical experience in the energy sector, including nuclear, hydrogen and/or whole system interactions
  • Have a good knowledge of energy end-use sectors, including aviation, maritime, industry, road transport, commercial and residential
  • Have a working knowledge of the energy system, nuclear power, low-carbon hydrogen and/or sustainable fuels
  • Able to manage technical and consultancy projects, delivering against structured management processes and ensuring successful project outcomes;
  • Able to manage and prioritise competing demands, between both external and internal projects
